Checking Tools

Post by siktiringidin » Fri Mar 31, 2023 2:44 pm

Is there any automative way to check integrity of thousand of folders and files? I've found this [External Link Removed for Guests] but couldn't understand how to use.

Maybe AirDC? When sharing files, AirDC automaticly checks if the sfv and the files are a match. Then you can see at systemlog which folders are valid or not.

Can't you just drop the folders in a checksum checker?

Thanks for the answers but do these check filenames too like srr file? Im trying to preserve files exactly on srrDB but sometimes the files are renamed dash to dot, underscore to dash etc.

This is the way. You dont even need to join a hub or use it for filesharing. Just add your directory to a share, AirDC will scan and note any failed files in the system log. Fix those.

To take it to the next level install the Clean.ADL.Anti.RAR.vXX-ShareCare ADL search ruleset. I just found out about this and its a game changer.

Install it (simply copy into AirDC++ settings folder) and browse your own share and run it. It will check all folders for a ton of other issues like junk files (albumart, desktop.ini, etc), topsite nfo files, empty directories, spaces in directories, dupe files, files that are larger/smaller than they should be, files that have questionable path names (blah.mp3.nfo), etc. I found so many issues and I thought I did a thorough job of checking releases before adding them to my share.

If you check a SFV and the filenames dont match it will fail check (with exception of sfv checkers that detect renamed files). My checker detects and renames the changed files if the crc matches.

Now if the files have been renamed AND the sfv recreated the only way to validate is downloading a known good sfv (from SRRdb or someone else).

Caveat - SRRdb data is crowd sourced. There can be some bad files there.

There are some SFV checking tools that can handle whole directories - like RekSFV, TurboSFV, etc.

There are many tools that can create SFV files. Like FlashSFV, QuickSFV, cksfv (Linux) and many more.
Scene tools are also available. Like Morgoths mp3 releaser, Zipscript (for servers) and many more.

I use 'HashCheck Shell Extension' to run and create SFV files (on Windows). Its lightweight and doesn't
change something in the SFV file, like QuickSFV.

For my part, I can recommend [External Link Removed for Guests]. Same for checking large archives from rels as well as for creating sfv. I've been using it for years and I'm satisfied - it works very quickly and reliably :)
