I've often seen files uploaded to KrakenFiles that are still available months after the original upload date. Does anyone know how long a file has to be flagged as inactive before it's automatically deleted?
Thanks.

Is there an official retention period for content uploaded to KrakenFiles?

Why files was deleted?
We can store files as long as possible, but sometime we must delete , when?
- Report abuse. We must delete files, when the authorized body reports abuse
- The file has not been downloaded for at least 3 months (no register user) or 6 months (register user).

Like BomberJacket said and linked:
Files uploaded without account are most likely to first be deleted.
I mostly upload files on a free user account until it hits 24.x / 25GB Safety Storage.
Then I make a new account, my files seem to last longer that way.
It does seem that Krakenfiles has recently reduced the time files will be kept and I think the popularity of the host will force them to keep reducing that time.
Nothing 'free' lasts forever ...
ps: imagenetz claims a VERY long expiry time ... but that's pure bullshit. Files are deleted within a few months.

Thank you both - I was also wondering why not more people use ImageNetz because of the advertised long retention - but if content is in fact deleted much sooner than the date shown on the download page of a file, this makes perfect sense.

Like most file hosting sites, registered users get perks such as longer storage, control on whether files survive, and free users are usually limited - each site has different or the same depending which it is. This has to be checked if you are prepairing to use any and intend the files to survive long term.
Kraken is no different, however it is very favourable to free uploaders which is why I guess is very frequently used and prefered by many, including on this forum. Some use others also, such as another common one: rapidgator - because they might have premium access and they gain benefits unique to them by sharing links via it.
Otherwise isn't there a date provided once a file is uploaded when it will expire? Typically: it's after 30 days of no activity it's removed but I think it is only based on activity for Kraken. If a file is being downloaded many times, it is refreshed again until whenever it is quiet, and then at a certain period, is cleared and removed from the server to provide new space. I no expert though on it.

Well, there you go. Something like that tells the story @radiofan.BomberJacket wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 8:32 amWhy files was deleted?
