Do you think such place would bring some value to our community?

There's no official IRC for this forum. We won't endorse one either but doesn't stop anyone from making. Hopefully chat continues to be used but I get that it hasn't been in a bit.

I don't see the point of such a thing! Who even uses IRC these days? We used to set up blind dates with mirc! Most of my friends don't even know it still exists! The situation is the same with icq! Who even remembers that such a program existed?

I still use IRC every day, easiest way to talk to friends when you don't do social media

Just because you and I and two or three others know doesn't mean that this program isn't blast from the past! The same goes for irc!

A side IRC channel could be great to exchange with other people (torrent, dc++ hubs, etc.)
And why not setup an old skool bot for xdcc send
